Last year, we highlighted in our 2019 post that gender equality is one of the biggest challenges we face and nowhere is that more visible than in the traditionally male-dominated fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths. Only 35% of girls worldwide choose to study STEM in higher education.

You might feel a bit … well, silly, wearing it.

The quest for the perfect cocktail. It sounds like something out of a fantasy movie but it’s consumed bartenders and molecular gastronomists for decades. How do you craft the right balance of bitter to sweet? Do you add salt or sugar? Lemon or lime?

As we move towards a more sustainable future, backyard science has become more than mini beasts and botany. We are seeing increasing sustainable and solar-powered science in our own backyards (yay!). Things like worm farms, solar panels and water-conserving gardening systems are great ways to teach your children about science while helping sustain our environment.

We’ve been a bit busy here at Science Space Wollongong over the last few months. We’ve celebrated our 30th Birthday, smashed our BIGGEST school holiday period EVER and only now are we feeling like we can stop and take a deep breath; a deep breath of our Oxygenated atmosphere.

Exciting news! Science Space was recently chosen as one of the best fun kids venues by Parents Guide Illawarra!

Since opening in 1989 – Science Space has welcomed over 1.3 million visitors through their doors. Of that, they have seen well over 300,000 school group students, from over 100 different schools each year.

It only takes one person to mention our element of the month at Science Space Wollongong to conjure imaginative stories of political intrigue, plotting and murder. Arsenic has been associated with deadly poisons since ancient times.

At Science Space Wollongong we view sustainability across three dimensions: economy, society and the environment. It is defined as; avoidance of the depletion of natural resources in order to maintain an ecological balance; “the pursuit of global environmental sustainability.”
