STEM WORKSHOPS (30-40min)

• Destruction Challenge
  Design and destroy! Learn how buildings and towers are built to withstand the powerful effects of natural disasters. Design and construct a structure following the criteria and test whether it can survive a simulated earthquake, tornado and more! A fun introduction to the Engineering Design Process for primary school students.

• Shipyard Challenge
  Sink or float? Join our virtual shipyard as we design and build some amazing vessels from recycled materials! Experiment with buoyancy, streamlined shapes and mass as we create cargo ships and sailboats.
• Bridge Builder Challenge
  Calling all junior engineers! Explore the Engineering Design Process as we construct the ultimate bridges that can stretch across a river and hold as much weight as possible. Concepts include problem solving, mass, measurement and more.

PLANETARIUM SHOW

• Solar System Expedition
  A must for Earth and Space units! Join our intergalactic flight assistant direct from our planetarium as we tour through our solar system and beyond. Visit the Sun, planets, Milky Way galaxy and more as we discover our place in Space.

LIVE SCIENCE SHOWS

• Bubbleology
  Our most popular science show for junior scientists! Find out what bubbles are made of and learn why they are so stretchy and lazy. This show features giant bubbles, fire bubbles, liquid nitrogen bubbles and more! Science concepts include liquids, mixtures, surface tension, evaporation and air pressure.

• Liquid Nitrogen
  Witness some truly ‘cool’ and sometimes explosive experiments using an incredibly cold substance – Liquid Nitrogen! Discover what really happens when liquids boil, learn about frostbite and find out why the Sydney Harbour Bridge shrinks on a cold day. Science concepts include changes of state, pressure, temperature and more.

Here are some important details:

• Sessions are available for booking Monday – Friday during school terms.
• Virtual Science Space is aimed at Kinder to year 6 students (content can be adapted for different grades).
• The cost is $4 per student per session
• Minimum of 20 students for all experiences
• Maximum of 30 for STEM workshops
• No maximum number for planetarium and science show sessions
• Planetarium shows and science shows run for around 30 minutes each
• STEM workshops run for around 40 minutes
• For privacy reasons only one school per livestream
